BOARDING LIFE

Boarders live in one of the two boarding houses, each one being staffed by experienced House staff with the boarding houses rapidly becoming a happy home-from-home and fellow boarders becoming an extended family. Boarders are encouraged to achieve their true potential and develop valuable skills and qualities such as communication, teamwork, leadership, empathy and cultural understanding.

At Alpenstock, we aim to make boarding fun, safe, rewarding and provide many opportunities for developing independence and increasing maturity. It is a place where firm friendships are forged and where boys are supported fully through emotional, physical and personal challenges by caring and dedicated staff.

Boys will be encouraged to complete homework and aspire to do the best they can in their studies, as well as exert their excess energy on the sports field or other co-curricular activity.  AWS provides an environment that allows boys to flourish in a supportive and cared for environment. Responsibility and leadership is encouraged to ensure that the boys are well-prepared for their life beyond AWS.

PASTORAL CARE

HOUSE PARENTS

The Houseparents are resident members of staff, who are also non-teaching members of the boarding community, the overall pastoral and well-being responsibility for all the boarders at AWS, as well as the overall management responsibility for each boarding House is on them.

HOUSEMASTERS & HOUSEMISTRESSES

Housemasters and Housemistresses are responsible for each and every boarder in their boarding House.  In addition, they hold the responsibility for the day to day management of their boarding House and for upholding the ethos and aims for their House.

BOARDING ACTIVITIES

We provide a variety of activities for our boarders and aim to cater for the diverse and numerous interests of our students.

Activities range from student-led fantasy football leagues and fun sports; festival-themed fun events like Dandiya night and Christmas parties; on-site camping, pool parties and barbeque lunches; to off-campus visits such as adventure trips, cycling trips, shopping in the malls and theatre visits, to name a few.
